Ever since we launched photoblogs and profiles, we’ve been getting questions about how to find them:
How exactly are you supposed to find [photoblogs] on someone’s site? Because, correct me if I’m wrong, there isn’t a direct link.

Thanks to Dave and Janet, now they’re easier to find – we just added direct links to photos and profile! Also – as we were developing this, we noticed that very few Xangans used the reviews and events links. To minimize clutter, we decided to hide those; if you’d like to show them, just check out the FAQ here.
We’ve put the new headers on the Photoblogs and Profile pages, so you can get a preview of what the new links look like (or just check out that pic to the right):
If you’re down with it, tomorrow we’ll add these links to the weblog page as well

why is there a need to add “weblog” on top?? so are the “reviews” and “events” history?

i’m down with it. i’ve actually been hiding the navbar using CSS, and am using my own. i still think i’ll use my own since i want a link for people to find my RSS quickly.
i agree with other commentors — there’s no need for a weblog link on the weblog itself. plus, as things are right now on photo and profile pages, the nav bar is not a bar, but a chunky block of space in the left top corner. you are going to make it thin like a bar, right?

- Nudges
I see them there but can’t find them on anyone elses site to be able to leave a message on any chatboards or anything. How do you use these features?
Also – is there ANY way at all that you can create something so that if we choose to let people who aren’t members of Xanga to comment on our sites that they can be able to?
That is the one thing that is holding me back from totally blogging on Xanga alone … I have others who don’t belong to Xanga that I’d love for them to be able to read [and comment] on my posts.
Surely you can come up with something that will give each member the option as to whether or not we want to allow comments from non-Xanga members, can’t ya?

But might I point something out? You said if we wished to also show the Reviews and Events links to visit the FAQ page provided, and I noticed the code to add to our look and feel adds both the Reviews and Events links; is it possible to only add Events? Or vice-versa? Thanks. :]

i think the reviews and events link would be good if it was better tied into xanga and easier to use. right now, i don’t even think about it cause i typically don’t even look there.

You know, photo blogs should just be part of the regular blogging process. People who visit someone’s site want to see all their blogs – even the ones that include photos, and don’t want to have to jump around to different screens or whatever to see their friends postings. The photos are just as important as daily info. for the average xangan.
For reviews and events, why not just make a tab for each one at the top or in the left-hand module, at the option of the blogger?
Sounds simple to me, but, I know things can become complicated.
Just my two cents worth.

How do i remove all these “new” added links? I dont really use those extra new things xanga has and I dont want those links visible either…can there be an option to remove those as well? 2nd unrelated comment – i notice if u now use xanga lock – and people click onto Ur page and get locked and then sign on –u no longer can tell WHERE they came from. It’ll just show that it came from that xanga lock page. Is there anyway to fix that so that it is LOCKED but also U can tell where they linked from instead of showing that it linked from da lock-sign in page? In addition to that, i also use xtracker, etc and now it cant track properly. One of the best and most useful things about those tracking things is that it not only tells you who, when, etc but also where they linked from…..please find a solution for these issues. Thanks so much!!! =)

With the implementation of the photoblog link being added, and the additional profile and weblog link (now there are two links for profile and two for the user’s weblog!), you have also finally removed the Events and the Reviews area on Xanga. I remember reading a while ago that you folks said you were going to do it…just thought you’d give us a “heads up” before you did it.
I realize that few Xanga users actually used the Reviews or Events area, but it was unique.
Do you think that the Events area could at least be brought back in perhaps a different form? Like perhaps a future implementation of a calendar that could have personal, private and shared qualities?

I think the reason that people didn’t use the review link is that it is actually difficult to post a review. The window never would fit my computer screen, so I was not able to click the submit button. Yeah, weird. Maybe it’s just something I did, but well… Maybe it isn’t.

I will give it another try. Whereas I did not experience uploading a replacement profile photo not too long ago, I have been unable to upload photos for a photolog. The photos from my hard drive simply are not recognized as a selection. I use Red Hat 8.0, but do not encounter similar problems with other photo services, such as Photobucket and Flickr. Despite having sent several e-mails about my problem I have yet to receive any response from anybody at Xanga, which is quite disappointing, as I am otherwise very satisfied with the services offered. I hope you might be able to get some remedial actions taken.

They have to choose what they are looking for on the siting page to narrow down the process and you click on what ever person you want to write to. It’s just a question that I have for yall. To help us new users out a little more. Hope you can take this advice into consideration.

I think it’s great that you added a link tab to photos .. and i guess if I ever use photos it would be much easier … however I really don’t like that you deleted my Movie Review Tab to add the photo tab. Is there anyway I can get the link added back to my site? I write movie reviews and it’s a real hassel for me to even get to the review section yet alone for anyone else to be able to go read them.

I have a very good suggestion, maybe have a feature where we can organize the photo section into folders.
Sometimes the abundance of the photos makes it time consuming for people to go through allllll the photos just to look at let’s say for example, a day’s event.
Whereas, if there was a folder feature where we could put all the folders into the, “day’s event” folder, we can find the pictures there directly.
