Xanga TV - now open for users!
There's a lot of similarities between blogging and TV. Ever think of your life as a sitcom? Or compare things that happen in your life to a tv show? Xanga TV makes it easy to cross that divide.
Before, streaming on the internet was costly and hard to do, but thanks to the video team - they figured out a way for some users to stream. We've also built a nice themes system that allows Xanga TV to be supported as well.
Getting Started
Note: you have to be premium to try this out
1. First log in, and then go here: http://live.xanga.com/XangaTVRecorder.aspx
The player will automatically start broadcasting
2. Add the module to your site

Please note that only themes can support this module.
* Using a new window, go to your public page http://www.xanga.com/home2.aspx
* Click Edit This Page
* Click Add Modules
* Click Xanga TV
3. That's it!
When you're done, just click Stop. You can also start your stream by mousing over your Xanga TV module on your site and click + Broadcast.We're easing into this feature, so we're only opening this up to our premium users first. So if you have premium, definitely check it out and let us know what you think - And if you got a cool show going on, drop us a line - would love to see ya on TV!

Otherwise - woo!
Would be nice if either a) the streaming 'recorder' included the chat applet or b) the recorder and viewer were integrated into a single module that should the outgoing stream to the streamer and the incoming stream to viewers, with chat for both.
lol. my friends and i just started live streaming last night on one setup. think brady bunch. :) it's kinda amusing.

I've seen other people's Xangas who were already using this idea on their page using other programs/sites (such as the previously-featured Ricebunny) and thought it was a great idea.
One of the ways I explain Xanga to non-users is not by what it is, but by what it is not--it's not just a blog...it's not a myspace or facebook...it's not a media sharing site. It's an amalgamation of all these things. More or less agreeing with airguitar and kirbys, while it feels cool hosting video sessions and answering questions, as long as it doesn't become the focus of people's Xanga pages...then I think it'll be alright.

just a though. :)
Mine is not working :(
Also had the same problem as the mentioned above by SecksyRx3
This seems really cool. I like Dan's, but how are you going to regulate it? Oh, and being no the chat side of this alot, it is easy for the chat room to start lagging when a lot of people are on, but you don't want to move to another room because then you'd miss out on half the comments. So, it would be neat to have live video confrences with a chat room eventually.
Just a thought.
